Inside Your Degree Planner Plan: Courses

IMPORTANT: Degree plans are intended to guide you in the selection of courses, but given the complexity of this process, the college does not guarantee plans will always be 100% accurate. If you have completed AP, IB, CLEP, DANTE, DLPT exams and/or college coursework from another institution, you may have already met certain requirements and may not need to take additional courses. You must talk with an advisor to have your plan reviewed and approved.

Schedule Tab

Once you have had an opportunity to choose courses in the Courses tab, you can use the Schedule tab to get a visualization of the course sections chosen for any in-person or hybrid courses.

My American Ethnic Studies Pre-Major AA-DTA plan with the Schedule tab open, providing a Monday to Friday weekly visualization of planned courses. It shows ENGL&101 on Mon and Wed at 8:30 to 9:20, COL101 on Mon at 10 to 11:50, and AES101 Wed at 10 to 11:50.

Each course with a specified time will be shown on the schedule for every quarter that information is available.

Note: Online only courses will not appear in this schedule as they do not have a set time. If your plan includes both in-person and online only courses, your schedule will only show the in-person courses, although there will be a note below the schedule that shows the online course chosen.

Reschedule My Courses

Degree Planner provides a tool to help you organize and optimize your course schedule under the link Reschedule My Courses:

Clicking the link will bring up a new page allowing you to reschedule the courses chosen.

Here you have options to input personal schedule preferences like:

  • What type of Schedule you prefer?
  • What time of day to you prefer to go to class?
  • What days are you available?

These options can help filter rescheduling options. You can select options you like, but you can also see all available configurations by selecting the See Schedules button without inputting any preferences.

This opens a new page where you can see all variations of course sections for the combination of courses you have selected for that term.

You can browse all the options until you find a combination that works best for your schedule. Hovering over a potential schedule will open the option to set it as your new schedule.

One potential schedule hovered over. a Set Schedule button is overlayed on the top of the schedule.

Clicking the Set as Schedule button will automatically update this schedule as your new schedule and change the sections chosen in the Courses tab.

Reminder: Creating your schedule in Degree Planner does not update, register or drop any courses officially. It is here to guide your planning of courses. You must still update your official schedule in ctcLink for any schedule changes to take effect.
