What is Degree Planner?
Degree Planner, as the name suggests, is a planning tool in the Starfish platform that enables advisors, associated staff and students to create a plan to guide an academic journey at Shoreline College. The tool incorporates data from the student record, course catalog and program offerings, to create an interactive timeline of how to complete a degree that is easily customizable to fit individual academic objectives. Because it is a planning tool, Degree Planner is not used to register or drop courses or audit degrees for accuracy and completion; ctcLink is the platform that provides those functions. Instead, Degree Planner provides a map, detailing the ideal path to complete a degree or certificate program at Shoreline, giving a picture of how time can be spent at the college and what options are available. It can also be used as an exploratory tool to discover other degree or certificate options, detailing how completed coursework could apply to these new options and how easily someone could pivot into a new program.
