Committee or Taskforce Proposal

As part of participatory governance, we recognize the need to evaluate and update committees and taskforces on a regular basis. Complete this form when you have a new Committee or Taskforce to propose. Definitions from the participatory governance model:

Committees are standing bodies that have clear goals and plans that support the college and the councils they report to. Committees tend to be more work focused and staffed by discipline experts on a regular cycle. For example, CARE team meets weekly to discuss and provide support to CARE reports. Committees are made up of people relative to the goals and support of that committee and may not be representative of the college constituency groups.
Taskforces have a set project or goal that they are working towards. This has a timeline associated and an expected product. For example, this document and the participatory governance model was produced by a taskforce.
Workgroups are informal groups and do not need to go through this process or report to a council. The following steps need to have taken place before completing this form:
1. Discuss with your dean or director
2. Discuss with representative bodies (ex. Faculty senate, Union leaders, Departments effected.)
3. Discuss with ET members of Councils that group will report to.
4. Research need of group and if something similar exists locally, or at the state level.
