Summary:
eLearning supports the use of Respondus for remote proctoring of exams in approved courses. To request Respondus activation in your Canvas course, click Request Service on the right-hand side of the screen and complete the request form.
Submitting this form ensures that Respondus is properly enabled in your course and that the Course Schedule includes the required notification for students about remote proctoring. If you have not used Respondus before, or if it has been some time since your last use, please indicate this on the form. An Instructional Designer will follow up to provide any necessary support.
Respondus Usage
Indicate whether you have used Respondus previously, either at this institution or another. If you are new to using Respondus , a consultation with an eLearning Instructional Designer will be required prior to implementation.
Respondus is enabled at the individual course level. If you are importing content from a course that previously had Respondus enabled, the tool will carry over automatically. If you do not have a course copy available, Respondus can be manually enabled in the course you specify. Please indicate how you plan to proceed.
Respondus remote proctoring is reserved for online classes only with few exceptions. Please check out the eLearning Remote Proctoring Procedures for more details.
Course Type & Section Number
Specify the delivery format of the course (hybrid, online, web-enhanced, Hyflex, etc.). Please note that courses with substantial in-person instruction may be expected to conduct exams on campus and may require additional approval from your division dean before using Respondus .
Provide the full course prefix and course/section number (for example, ENGL&101 12345). If you are requesting Respondus for more than one course, list each course separated by commas.
**Note: Respondus can ONLY be requested by the instructor in the course or give their written permission to add it
Respondus Statement on Class Schedule
In order to use Respondus in your course, students must be informed at the time of registration that exams will be proctored remotely. The following statement will be added to the course listing in the Class Schedule:
“Remote proctoring will be used to proctor tests for this class. Students will need access to a desktop/laptop computer, a microphone, a front-facing webcam and possibly another device with a camera such as phone, tablet/iPad, webcam. Contact your instructor for more details.”
