Microsoft Teams Phone

Body

Overview

Shoreline Community College uses Microsoft Teams Phone, which allows users to place and receive calls and video chat using Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). VoIP allows users to make voice calls using an Internet connection instead of a regular (or analog) phone line. Calls can be made using a computer or desktop phone.

Instructions

Make Calls

To make a phone call click on the Calls icon located on the left hand side of your screen. Use the search bar to look up a person by name, or use the dial pad to dial a number. When calling someone on campus, you have to dial the whole number (dial 206-546-####) since Teams is not on a traditional phone system. For more detailed instructions, view Make Calls in Microsoft Teams.

To minimize expenses, Shoreline is moving away from desktop phones. Desktop phones can still be requested and will be charged to the department. Please be aware that all requests will undergo an evaluation process to determine if a desktop phone is required.
