How to Add Textbook Information to a Class

Adding Textbooks

Navigation:  NavBar > Navigator > Curriculum Management > Schedule of Classes > Maintain Schedule of Classes

  1. The Maintain Schedule of Classes search page displays.
  2. Enter Academic Institution.
  3. Enter Term.
  4. Enter additional Search Criteria to locate your class.
  5. Select Search.

Maintain schedule of classes tab in ctcLink. The Search Criteria title is highlighted in yellow. There are red boxes around the Academic Institution, Term, and Search buttons.

  1. The Basic Data tab displays.
  2. Use the arrows on the Class Sections section to find the class instance for which you want to add text book information.
  3. Select Textbook.

Basic data tab. There are red boxes around the Textbook tab and the page numbers. The title Course Sections is highlighted in yellow.

College can add specific textbooks to each section of the class or add a link to the college bookstore in the Special Instructions section to link students to their bookstore website.

  1. The Textbook tab displays.
  2. In the Textbook Assignment section, use the Course Materials, Details and Notes tabs to add specific textbooks, course resources and other materials to each section of the class.
  3. Select [+] to add multiple textbooks or course materials, if needed.

Course materials type. There is a red about around the course materials type menu. and the title Textbook Assignment is highlighted in yellow.

  1. Use the Special Instructions box to input the college bookstore website.  This can be done in lieu of adding specific course materials or in addition to the specific course materials.

Special instructions tab. There is a red box around the special instructions textbox.

  1. Select TextBook entry complete.
  2. Select Save.

Textbook entry complete. There are red boxes around the add button for textbook entry complete, and the page save button.

  1. Textbook information will display in the Class Details for the section of the class.

Other materials page. There is a yellow highlighted box around textbook/other materials saved info.

Copying Textbooks Between Sections

If multiple sections of the same class use the same textbook, college can copy the textbook information between sections.

Navigation:  NavBar > Navigator > Curriculum Management > Schedule of Classes > Maintain Schedule of Classes

  1. From the Textbook tab of the section of the class that needs textbooks assigned, select Copy Textbooks.

Textbook tab. There is a red box around the copy textbooks button.

  1. A warning message will display that copying textbook information from another section will delete any existing information on this section for textbooks.
  2. Select OK to overwrite existing information.

Message window. There is a red box around the OK button.

 

  1. The message window disappears.
  2. The Class Search page displays.  Use it to identify the class the textbook information will be copied from.

Class search. There are red boxes around the term, subject and class number text boxes, and the search button.

  1. After the class section has been identified, select Select.

Search results page. There is a red box around the select button.

  1. Verify the textbook information that was copied.
  2. Select Save.

Textbook tab. There is a yellow highlighted box around the course materials set of menus, and a red box around the save button.

Low Cost Textbooks

  1. For low cost textbooks, enter course attribute information and value in the Class Attributes section of the Basic Data tab.

    2. Course Attribute Value - SLCM

Class attributes tab. There is a yellow highlight over the class attributes menu title, and red boxes around the course attribute and course attribute value textboxes.

  1. In the Textbook tab, in the Textbook Assignment section, in the Special Instructions box, enter "The required instructional materials cost $50 or less; there may be additional mandatory equipment/supplies to purchase."
  2. Select Save.

Textbooks tab. There is a yellow highlight over the textbook assignment menu title, and red boxes around the special instructions textbox and save button.

No Cost Textbooks

  1. For No Textbook to Purchase classes, enter course attribute information and value in the Class Attributes section of the Basic Data tab.

    2. Course Attribute Value - OER

Basic data tab. There are red boxes around the Course attributes and course attribute value.

  1. On the Textbook tab, select the radio button “Textbook entry complete”.
  2. Enter "The required instructional materials are provided online at no cost during the course. A printed version and some supplementary course materials may be available for purchase in bookstore.” in the Special Instructions box of the Textbook Assignment section.
  3. Select Save.

  1. Performing a class search would show the results below.

Class detail page, There is a yellow highlighted box over the textbook assignment complete box.

  1. Process complete.
