Manually Run the Manually Created Course Sync in Simple Syllabus

Learn how eLearning administrators can manually synchronize Canvas Manually Created Courses with Simple Syllabus without waiting for the automatic 24-hour sync.

When a faculty member creates a Manually Created Course in Canvas, it may take up to 24 hours for the course to become available in Simple Syllabus through the automatic synchronization process.

eLearning administrators can manually initiate the sync when faculty need access to Simple Syllabus sooner.  This is good in cases where we might do a training and folks have never created one before and need access ASAP.

Note: Only administrators with the appropriate permissions can manually initiate this sync.

Step 1: Log In to Simple Syllabus

1. Go to Shoreline College's Simple Syllabus login page.

2. Log in using the same username and password you use for Canvas.

Step 2: Access the Data Hub

1. From the Simple Syllabus administrative interface, select Admin.

2. Navigate to Data Hub.

3. Locate the API Integration.

4. Click the pencil icon next to the API integration to access its settings.

Step 3: Run the Manually Created Course Sync

1. Locate the Manually Created Course sync option.

2. Initiate the sync.

3. Allow the synchronization process to complete.

4. Check that the newly created Canvas course is available in Simple Syllabus.

Once the course has successfully synced, faculty should be able to access Simple Syllabus through their Manually Created Course in Canvas.

Important: The manual sync allows administrators to initiate synchronization without waiting for the next scheduled 24-hour sync. The course may not appear immediately after the process is initiated.
