Use these steps to make Labster available in an individual Canvas course. Labster is already configured at the Canvas account level, so you do not need to create a new Labster integration.
1. Open the Canvas Course
Open the course that needs access to Labster.
Go to:
Settings → Apps → View App Configurations
2. Add Labster to the Course
Click + App.
For Configuration Type, select:
By Client ID
Enter the Labster LTI 1.3 Client ID +: 90000000001855
Click Submit, then confirm that you want to install the app.
Once installed, you should see an entry similar to:
Labster US 2026-04-12
under View App Configurations.
3. Verify the Course Navigation Placement (not really needed)
If you want to confirm that Labster has the correct placement, find Labster US 2026-04-12 under View App Configurations.
Click the gear/drop-down menu → Placements.
You should see green checkmarks for several placements, including:
Course Navigation ✓
Close the Placements window.
4. Add Labster to Course Navigation
After waiting briefly, go to:
Settings → Navigation
Look for Labster in the disabled navigation items at the bottom of the page.
Move Labster into the enabled Course Navigation area and click Save.
If Labster does not appear right away, wait a little longer and refresh the page. You can also do a hard refresh in Chrome on Windows with Ctrl + Shift + R.
5. Verify That It Worked
Return to the course.
Labster should now appear in the course's left-hand navigation menu. Click it to verify that the Labster Dashboard opens correctly.
Tip for Canvas Admins: You generally do not need to reinstall or modify the college-wide Labster Developer Key. The goal of this process is to make the existing Labster integration available only in the specific Canvas course that needs it.
