Evaluations Overview

Evaluations

Quarterly instructor course evaluations are administered by Learning Resources using Watermark Course Evaluations & Surveys (CES). Evaluations are anonymous and instructors do not receive results until the day after grades are due. Non-instructional evaluations are administered by Learning Resources using Survey Monkey.

The process was designed with direction from the Office for Student Learning and Success, the Faculty Union, and the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Data Management (IADM). The confidential feedback from students help improve student learning and is critical to faculty development and program planning and improvement.

The terms observations and evaluations are often used interchangeably but are not the same. Observations are conducted by administration and faculty; these are used in part to form an ARC. Evaluations in this article are student feedback on courses or interactions with specific non-instructional faculty.

Who is Required to Receive Evaluations?

Evaluations requirements are outlined in the AFT faculty contract.

How Often are Evaluations Done?

The frequency of the course evaluations is determined by the AFT faculty contract and depends on whether faculty are tenure track, tenured, new associate faculty, on the Priority Associate track, or already a Priority Associate.

Evaluation Dates

Instructor course evaluations take place the last 10 business days of instruction. This can be different for each course due to early and late start/end date classes.

Evaluation Forms

Instructors are evaluated using the Main Survey or an evaluation form specific to ESL and Parent Educators. Librarians, media techs, counselors, and advisors are evaluated using Non-instruction Evaluation Forms (P, Q, W, X, Y)
