Student applies to the college; activates with the State Board
A Prospective Student will not have access to Shoreline accounts. A prospective student is someone who has not applied yet.
- Student submits their application through the Online Admissions Application Portal (OAAP) for Washington State Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) to Shoreline Community College
- Student receives a confirmation email after they submit
- Only contains the application number with generic text
- Student is accepted within 2-3 business days
- Possibly delayed if applying for a quarter very far into the future.
- Some processes are automated only for specific quarters
Student is accepted at Shoreline; student activates CTCLINK Account
A Prospective Student then becomes an Applicant. They will then have State level access (ctcLink ID), but no local access (Shoreline Network Account ).
- Involves a 2-step process within ctcLink. It may be 8+ hours between acceptance and when the “Welcome” email is sent.
- “Welcome” email must be sent from ctcLink, otherwise Shoreline Network Account will not be created until registration
- "Welcome” email contains their ctcLink ID number and instructions on how to activate
- Receiving of email may be delayed if student applied to a quarter far in the future
- After Student’s ctcLink account is activated, student can register for OCEANS and update personal information.
- Student won’t be able to register if:
- Their application has not been admitted (“incomplete” in ctcLink)
- They are not active for the term/quarter they are attempting to register for (must be term activated by Enrollment Services)
- They need an ID Verification
- or if the OCEANS Course is incomplete
Shoreline Network Account has been created
An Applicant will then have limited local access (Only software access would be for Starfish and AIM)
- After the "Welcome" email is sent to student from ctcLink
- Shoreline's local system will create a Network Account for the student
- The Network Account should be migrated to Entra and synced with Local AD
- Once their Shoreline Network Account is set to be verified on Entra
- A notifying email is sent to the student’s "preferred" email address in ctcLink
- In the Shoreline Network Account notifying email:
- Student is given their Network ID (firstname.lastname@go.shoreline.edu)
- Student is also notified that within 24 hours, they will have access to some services
- Student will also be given a temporary password with instructions on how to use the temp password (to reset their password)
- Overnight, the student's Shoreline Network Account is sent to Starfish and AIM
Student registers in ctcLink; Shoreline Network Account is fully enabled
An Applicant with limited local access will then become a Student. Students have full access.
- Within 24 hours of registration in ctcLink, our local system is notified
- If student does not already have a Shoreline Network Account, one will be created now
- Once account shows up in Entra, the email for the Network ID is created
- If the account was already on Entra or confirmed to be on Entra
- Notifying email is sent to the student as in Step 3, except they are instructed to reset their password
- Overnight, the Shoreline Network Account is sent to Starfish and AIM
