How do I ask for help in Starfish?

Important

Due to the college ransomware incident, Starfish is not currently receiving updated data from college systems. Because of this, any changes to your class enrollments after September 12, 2023 do not currently show in the system, and students who were not enrolled in classes by this date cannot access the system.

Overview

Starfish is an online platform that allows Shoreline students connect with a personalized network of advisors, services, and student success professionals at the College. You can use Starfish to find your advisor, make an appointment, and find information about services that will help you achieve your academic goals.

Starfish makes it easy to ask for help when you aren't sure where to start. If you need technical help using Starfish, you can visit the Shoreline Support Center webpage. If you need help enrolling in classes, paying for college, or with basic needs, visit the Current Students webpage.

If you need to contact an advisor and aren’t sure if you need an appointment, you can request assistance using the “raise your hand” button in Starfish.

Instructions

  1. Log into Starfish.
  2. Click on the hamburger menu in the top left corner.
  3. Click Raise Your Hand at the bottom of the sidebar menu.
  4. Review the help options at the top of the page.
  5. If you want to ask an advisor for help, click on the first drop-down menu and choose Contact My Advisor.
  6. Enter as much detail as possible in the required comment box. Be sure to indicate the best way to contact you by providing an email address or phone number.
  7. Click the Submit button in the bottom right corner.
  8. Your advisor will reach out to you soon to help resolve the issue.
