Password Reset Process

For your security, we have implemented a mandatory password reset for all network accounts. This measure is part of our ongoing commitment to protecting your data. To regain access to your account, please use the account recovery process. During this process, you will be prompted to create a new password. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in maintaining the security of our network.  

Important Dates

Before August 13th, 2024 

  • If you have multiple authentication methods configured on your account, you may be required to verify your account using one of your secondary authentication methods. 

  • Consider printing out a copy of these instructions for your department. 

Starting August 13th, 2024

  • Login to your PC. You may see a popup message about your “work or school account”. That’s because your password has changed. Please follow the instructions below. 

New Password Requirements 

  • Password must be 12 characters or more 

  • Requires 1 Capital Letter, 1 Number, and 1 Special Character 

  • Password must be reset every 180 days (about 6 months) 

Instructions 

  1. Visit https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/

    1. This is different than using the "Forgot Password" and "Reset it now" links you find on the normal Microsoft Sign in page.

  1. Enter your account name, as well as the CAPTCHA text:

  1. Microsoft will ask you to choose a verification step and then ask you to provide the verification information. In the example below, it is a Microsoft Authenticator code. In your case it could be something else. If you have more than one recovery method on your account, you may be prompted with more than one verification. 

    *NOTE: If you are using Microsoft Authenticator, please enter the rotating 6 digit code inside the app. If you open the Authentication app and select where it says "Shoreline Community College" you'll see the 6 digit code the website is asking you to type in. It will NOT send you a 2 digit notification number.

  1. Choose and enter your new password twice to verify it, then click Finish.

  1. If you logged into your work PC, Reboot, and log back in with your new password.

  • Use any kiosk computer around campus including several in the computer lab in room 4102 on the first floor of the library. 

  • Stop by TSS in 4122 for in-person assistance.
