Here at Shoreline we have eight Pathways. Each Pathway is a collection of related degrees and certificates. We group our degrees and certificates into Pathways to help students explore their options based on an area of interest. If you are undecided about your program, our Pathways can be a place to start exploring your options.

If you have college credits from a previous institution or your military service and would like it to count toward your degree at Shoreline, you can follow the steps below to transfer your credits.

Step 1: Request official transcripts from previous college(s) be sent to:

Step 2: Fill out a transcript evaluation request form below (choose one):

Transfer Credit Toward Academic Transfer Degree

Transfer Credit Toward Professional Technical Degree

Step 3: Email your form to Enrollment Services.

Send your completed form to Enrollment Services at transcriptevaluation@shoreline.edu.

English: Complete the Informed Self-Placement

Most students have the option to take a free English placement survey called Informed Self-Placement (ISP). The survey provides brief descriptions of the English classes, and helps you select the best starting place for you. This is not an option for Running Start students.

Math Placement

Everyone has the option to take a math skills assessment called ALEKS. It comes with access to a math review tutorial to help you refresh your skills, one practice test, and the option to re-take the official test (up to four times). The first assessment you take is a practice un-proctored assessment. Then, you'll be provided optional practice tutorials and can take the proctored assessment for your official placement when you are ready.

You must first complete the Intake Survey in Module 3, then you can meet with an advisor by phone, Zoom, or in person on campus.

Military-connected students (Veteran, currently serving on active duty or reserve component, or a dependent of a Servicemember) have a unique intake process. Entry advising is provided by Veteran & Military Student Services (VMSS) rather than General Advising. Please submit the VMSS Prospective StudentLinks to an external site. (PSF) form and email militaryservices@shoreline.edu to schedule your entry advising appointment with the VMSS Advisor.

Tuition is the largest quarterly expense you'll pay; it is the price of your classes. Fees are additional smaller costs that all students pay toward other campus services (such as student technology and sustainable commuter options).

Apply for Financial Aid:

Check out the steps to apply for financial aid. Students can pick one of the two options:

• U.S. Citizens, U.S. Permanent Residents and other eligible non-citizens should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
• Those in Washington not eligible for federal funding (including Undocumented Residents) can submit the Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA).

Students should list Shoreline College as their school (school code 003791).

Satisfactory Academic Progress:

Maintaining Satisfactory Academic Progress is an important part of getting and keeping your aid. Federal, state, and college requirements make up the standards we review at the beginning of each year before aid is offered and then again at the end of the quarter in which you receive financial aid. More information is available on our Satisfactory Academic Progress page.

Workforce Education helps students enrolled in a professional or technical program secure financial aid and launch a career. In some cases, Workforce can also assist low-income ESL, ABE, and transfer students. You can fill out a short questionnaire to see if you may be eligible.

The Shoreline Community College Foundation has awarded thousands of academic and workforce scholarships to students at Shoreline. Scholarships are a great way to offset all or part of the cost of your education.

Whether you are on active duty, in the reserves, a veteran, or a dependent of someone in the military, Veterans & Military Services (VMS) can assist you with applying for and utilizing your VA education benefits.  

Tuition Waivers and Discounts

Tuition discounts and waivers can help reduce the cost of attending Shoreline.

• Non-resident students taking only online classes may be eligible for a tuition discount.
• State employees, including Shoreline Community College employees, can qualify for a tuition waiver.
• Students age 60 and older qualify for the Senior Citizen Tuition Waiver.
• Military Veterans and Military Dependents of disabled or deceased Veterans may be eligible for tuition waivers.

You can either pay online through ctcLink or on campus at the Cashier's office in the Student Services Lobby of the 5000 building. To find out more about the deadlines and payment process, you can review our Pay Tuition page. If you cannot pay the full amount at once, you have the option to set up a payment plan, and you can review our Tuition Payment Plan page for more information on that.

Leading up to the beginning of the term and the first few days into classes, there are a few deadlines where you may be dropped from your classes if you have not paid all of your tuition. You can find the Drop for Non-Payment Calendar attached to right side of the Academic Calendar page.

In order to avoid being dropped, please get in touch with the Cashier (accountsreceivable@shoreline.edu) if you are having trouble paying or are waiting for your tuition payment to be delivered. You will receive an email the day before you are dropped from your classes, so there are no surprises, allowing you to address the issue. If you are dropped from your classes, you will also get an email notification to which you can reply to request re-enrollment.

Hazing Prevention:

If any student, faculty, or staff member suspects or witnesses hazing activities or behavior, they should report it immediately by completing the form on our Hazing Prevention page.

Title IX (Title Nine):

Title IX is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in educational programs, activities, admission and employment. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Sexual assault
• Domestic, intimate partner and dating violence
• Gender-based stalking
• Sexual harassment (quid pro quo and hostile environment)
• Failing to provide appropriate accommodations for a pregnant or parenting student
• Treating a person differently based on marital status

If you are affected by sexual misconduct or you know of someone else on campus who is, there is help available. For more information or to report sexual misconduct, email titleixcoordinator@shoreline.edu.  

Care/Incident Report:

Disciplinary action will be taken by the college for violations of the law, college policy or the college's Code of Conduct, in addition to potential legal actions being taken by outside agencies

Bias Incident Response:

If you encounter or suspect a bias incident on campus, you are encouraged to use Shoreline’s bias incident form.

In order to increase the likelihood that individuals will submit information, the form may be submitted anonymously or with non-identifying contact information (such as a personal email account).

Our Dolphin Day events offer new students an opportunity to connect with other new students, learn about navigating student spaces at Shoreline, meet faculty and staff, and start exploring the resources available to you when you begin your classes.
